Spotify changed how apps access your library

Spotify now limits how third-party apps can connect to your account. But you can still move your playlists, liked songs and saved albums. Here's how.

What this means for you

March 9 update: Spotify postponed the endpoint changes for existing apps and said it would share new timelines later. The 5-user limit for Development Mode apps and Spotify Premium requirement are still in effect. Apps created before February 11, 2026 keep their endpoint access for now; apps created after that get a smaller set of endpoints.

Spotify limits each Development Mode app to 5 connected users and now requires a Spotify Premium account for third-party connections.

The good news: Spotify lets you download a copy of your account data from your Account Privacy page. This includes all your playlists, liked songs, saved albums, and followed artists.

How to export your Spotify data

Follow these steps to download your Spotify library. Request it from your Account Privacy page; Spotify then prepares the file.

  1. Go to spotify.com/account/privacy and log in to your Spotify account.
  2. Request your Account data. This is the package that includes your playlists and Your Library.
  3. Wait for Spotify to prepare the file, then download it.
  4. Download the ZIP file. It contains your entire library as data files.

Transfer your library with Tunarc
