Spotify Changed How Apps Access Your Library

Spotify now limits how third-party apps can connect to your account. But you can still transfer your entire music library -- here's how.

What This Means for You

March 9 Update: Spotify has postponed API endpoint restrictions indefinitely. The 5-user limit per app and Spotify Premium requirement are still in effect, but all API endpoints remain accessible for now.

Spotify limits each app to 5 connected users and now requires a Spotify Premium account for third-party connections. Most transfer services are affected.

The good news: you still own your data. Spotify is required by law to let you download a full copy of your music library. This includes all your playlists, liked songs, saved albums, and followed artists.

Tunarc uses this export to transfer your library with 97% accuracy -- same quality as a direct connection, just a different path. And if you have Spotify Premium, our Smart Queue gives you direct access.

How to Export Your Spotify Data

Follow these steps to download your Spotify library. It takes about a minute to request, then a few days for Spotify to prepare it.

  1. Go to spotify.com/account/privacy and log in to your Spotify account.
  2. Click "Request data" and select "Account data." This is the option that includes your playlists and library.
  3. Wait for Spotify's email (usually arrives within a few days) with a download link.
  4. Download the ZIP file. It contains your entire library as data files.
